アイスバブルIce Bubbles
上士幌町の糠平湖では、湖底の落ち葉などから発生するガスが湖面にたどり着く前に水の中で凍ってしまう現象「アイスバブル」が見られます。氷に閉じ込められた無数の気泡が、まるで時が止まっているかのような幻想的な風景を作り出します。
At Lake Nukabira in Kamishihoro in winter, gas generated from fallen leaves on the lake bed freezes in the water before reaching the lake surface. This phenomenon is called "Ice Bubbles." Thousands of air bubbles trapped in the ice create a fantastic landscape that seems as if time has stopped.

メルヘンの丘Meruhen no Oka
ゆるやかな丘陵地に連なる畑が、季節ごとに美しい田園風景を描く「メルヘンの丘」。ここは故黒澤明監督の映画「夢」のロケ地にもなった。畑と空が織りなすのどかな風景が印象的なビューポイントで、大空町女満別市街から網走市の国道39号沿いにあり、小高い丘の上にたたずむ木が目印の場所にある。ジャガイモや小麦、豆、ビートなどの畑がどこまでも続き、春は緑、夏はジャガイモの花の白、秋は小麦の黄金色と季節とともに丘の色が変化し、絵になるような四季折々でたくさんの美しい風景が広がっている。
The hill of crop fields create a beautiful rural landscape that changes with the seasons. It was also the filming location for the master movie director Akira Kurosawa's movie "Dream.'' It is located along National Route 39 heading from Memanbetsu to Abashiri, and the landmark is trees nestled on top of the small hill. The color of the hill changes with the seasons like a painting - green in spring, white with potato flowers in summer, and golden with wheat in autumn.

屈斜路湖Lake Kussharo
美幌峠の頂上にある標高525メートルの美幌峠展望台からは、日本最大のカルデラ湖である屈斜路湖が見渡せます。山々が円形に取り囲む「天下の絶景」。天気がよければ知床連山も眺めることができ、壮大なパノラマ風景が楽しめます。
Lake Kussharo, Japan's largest caldera lake, can be viewed from the Bihoro Pass Observatory located at the altitude of 525m (1,722 ft). The lake view surrounded by mountains in a circle is indescribably awesome. If the weather is good, you can also see a magnificent panoramic view including the Shiretoko Mountain Range.
